Wagner: Götterdämmerung
LWL Preußenmuseum Minden
08.03.2018 – The premiere of Richard Wagner’s Götterdämmerung was scheduled for September 6, 2018, in the Minden City Theater, set by Frank-Philipp Schlößmann, staged by Gerd Heinz, conducted by Frank Beermann.
In preparation, the Richard Wagner Verband Minden e.V. invited, as an exception, the German Record Critics Award to a trio of critics on the 8th of March. The three PdSK jurors Eleonore Büning, Manuel Brug (picture above), and Wolfgang Schreiber argued in front of an audience in the LWL Preußenmuseum Minden about the quality of the more than one hundred different recordings of Götterdämmerung, quite a few of which they presented in picture and sound. There was agreement on at least two issues: Every production stands or falls with the casting of Brünnhilde – and the best Brünnhilde of all time was and still is Kirsten Flagstadt.
