Schumann: Violin Concerto in D minor WoO 1

Joseph Joachim Competition, Kleiner Sendesaal of the NDR, Hanover

28.10.2018 – Before the exciting final round of the tenth International Joseph Joachim Competition began, the »Quartet of Critics» again came together in Hanover. For the anniversary of this lavish violin competition, the artistic director and jury chairman Krzystof Wegrzyn has designed a framework program and for the first time invited four music critics from among the PdSK jury members to attend «Prolog III«. From left to right: Sabine Fallenstein (SWR), Rainer Wagner (HAZ), Susanne Benda (Stuttgarter Zeitung) and Volker Hagedorn (Zeit) presented and discussed the history of the great violinist Joseph Joachim, the namesake of the competition, and recordings of a work which plays a major role in every violin competition: Robert Schumann’s Violin Concerto in D minor WoO 1.
