Thundering applause for one of this century’s greatest singers!

10.07.2021 – Brigitte Fassbaender, the winner of the Nachtigall, was celebrated in the Festspielhaus in Erl – right after the premiere of her new Rheingold production. Here she gives her acceptance speech. The party was hosted by Bernd Loebe, artistic director of the Frankfurt Opera as well as, more recently, the Erl Festival in Tyrol (on the right). The laudatory speech was given by PdSK Chairwoman Eleonore Büning (second from left), as well as the jurors Markus Thiel (far left) and Michael Stallknecht (third from left).

Fassbaender expresses her gratitude. Due to Corona, she received the award for her life’s work with some delay. Or perhaps prematurely? Because on the same evening, she is already moving on to the next production: Rossini’s »Barbers« in Bregenz. Another stop in her second, unprecedentedly successful career as a director, which she built up after the end of her singing career.
