Heiner Goebbels: A House Of Call

My Imaginary Notebook. 2 CD, ECM 2728/29 (Universal)

»A House of Call« can easily be understood as a distillation of the almost incongruent oeuvre of Heiner Goebbels: a collection of sound impressions that the ever-attentive composer has collected on journeys, during research, and in personal encounters. It goes through many times and spaces. Goebbels, never squeamish about the fullness of his inspiration, ennobles what he finds, increases their intensity, and overlays them with exuberant sophistication of sound, rhythmic absurdities, and puzzles. The two hours are like an audio film full of scratchy experiences, filled with contradictions, and therefore insanely modern. For the jury: Egbert Tholl

This album won in the jury Contemporary Classical Music as well as in the Jury Crossover Productions.
